Hazard warning switch

The hazard warning switch lights up when the side lights are turned on, (the switch does not flash like today's modern cars, well it doesn't on my bongo  )
Checked the bulb in the switch today, and it had blown, very, very small bulb. decided to see if i can change the bulb, easy enough to take out, but a weird set up.
I don't have bulbs that small only led's so I'm gonna try and fit one of those in, within the small space provided [-o<
Decided to take the switch apart and show anybody thinking of doing this what they might come up against.(i suppose you could get the small bulb somewhere, but im stubborn and like to try my way first.)
A pic of the hole in the side where the bulb goes.
Image
The bulb taken out of its holder.
Image
The bulb has a little white condom on it (best way i can describe it  )
Image
OOPS #-o
Image
Fitted the led , i had to strip it down to its bare components to fit.Not soldered up yet, need to test first.

Can i have the little white condom if you're not using it? I have trouble getting the correct size... (they don't call me big for nothing!) So the switch will light up blue when the lights are on? 8) 8) 8) Hmmm... surely it can be modded to flash with the hazards too... :-k :-k :-k :-k It's always bugged me that it doesn't flash like the switches on my cars do... :?

Good effort David! =D> =D> =D>

There is an extra solder place where the wires go on the switch(fourth picture down shows the spare solder connection), that's not used, i wonder if that would make it flash if connected [-o< might be worth a try :?

One of these might suit but difficult to see just what size it is http://tinyurl.com/63syw6o
That lamp is only meant to be the illumination light, both your indicator lights will flash to indicate that its actually working.

Good find, Ive bookmarked that site just in case my little pimp does not work. like you said the indicators flash to show its working, I'm just wondering if i can retro fit a wire to the new led to flash as well.
I do like to be different. #-o

I did take a quick look last night but there is no obvious way to use the existing lamp, as you would loose the illumination light itself, which you might just need at some point!

and illumination

The best would be another wire from one of the flasher outputs the G/B wire say bring it back to the switch and make use of the 4th unused connection and then another LED & resistor mounted inside from that wire, but not to earth, but to the live side of the switch, then it wouldn't flash when the indicators where working normally but would flash when the Hazard switch was operated, it might need an extra diode in series as well to prevent the indicator triggering the Hazard switch.

If you want more details PM me and I'll describe it in a bit more detail if you want.

I kinda figured that out last night #-o , that i would have to fit an extra bulb/led, i have ordered a couple of different types of bulb to see what i can do.(i have got the blue led to work, but having a bit of problem with the solder not sticking to the terminals)
I will more than likely get in touch with you for a bit more detail when i get the bulbs/led delivered.
