Well that's the paella ingredients sorted, not without a bit of effort either. I had to scour eight supermarkets to get the squid and even then it's not really what I wanted, fortunately there's not much demand these days for colossal squid.
You lot had better be hungry on Saturday evening.....

Arrived last night after the park closes. If you're arriving after the park closes, you need to contact them to arrange for them to give you a code to open a green box. In the green box is your key to enter the campsite. The box holding the key is on the side of the post next to the green letter box.
See you soon

What a cool day at Wellington, well - it wasn't! The sun came out but the site was nice n shady under those trees.
Thank you to New Forest Terrier for coming to let me in, and out again in the evening.
Thanks to Team Muz for a wonderful paella - it was truly scrumpious (I well avoided the things with 8 legs).
Good to meet some more bongo friends, old and new (friends that is) and I look forward to the next outing.
Baz you have a PM

What a lovely day and beautiful location to spend some chillin time. Was lovely to meet you all, we wanted to stay and wished we were camping there tonight. My friend had to work tonight so couldn't stay. There will be other times. Thanks Umbongocat for the intro's etc. Hope you all had a fun evening with evidence in photos to come I am sure.

Wish we had known about this one ! would of gone !umbongocat wrote:We're planning on going to Wellington Country Park for a weekend and maybe a few more days after or moving on as it's the school holidays.
Is anyone interested in meeting up that weekend. The Country Park is quite nice and the pitches are fairly big and facilities nice too. Plenty for the kids to do when you enter the country park. If there's enough interest I'll give them a call to book

Would be lovely to see all those we already know and any new faces who fancy joining us

Re: Wellington Country Park 29th to 31st July Reading
Back from a long weekend at Windsor (for the castle) and at Wellington Country Park near Reading. A really enjoyable break with some great company. Thanks to UmbongoCat for organising, and great to see some new faces. Thanks to HotPot for emergency supplies of wine, to flossie for emergency supplies of beer & crisps, to Mary for the antipasto and also to UmbongoCat for washing the paella pan on Saturday
Sad to say goodbye to LoopyLoo though, good luck in Dubai and we’ll see you next year with a bit of a tan
We were up at 2am Friday and at Windsor by 7.30. I don’t do traffic
Hmmm, maybe I shouldn’t take photos of what I shouldn’t be taking photos of....
The Round Tower – imaginatively named as it’s a tower and it’s round
Planes buzzing around all day
I’m sure I read somewhere that I was supposed to switch my camera off

Onto the campsite – yay!!
All the ingredients for a successful barbecue
Saturday morning, better have another barbie for breakfast
Time to dress up for the fairy & pixie party
The things Dad’s have to do
Jr getting the paella ingredients ready
Scouring the forest for possible ingredients too
Houston, we have ignition
Rabbit, partridge, pigeon, venison, mallard, pheasant and chicken....
....onion, garlic, chorizo, squid and some haddock fillets....
Ok, the chicken and haddock are fairly safe

Re: Wellington Country Park 29th to 31st July Reading
1.5kg rice....
....6 pints stock....
Hmmm, I know this looks like something dredged out of the Mersey but there’s no Mersey Trout in here
About a kilo of prawns and a fair dinkum of mussels....
....and some fresh samphire to top it off – ¡delicioso!
The things Dad’s have to do
