i know its all been on here before but i have the following issue, i replaced the fuel pump seals and now the vehicle wont start, not 100% that i put the internals in the right way, have tried different ways, no derv output from pump, self bleed type, there is mention of a pdf of the internals of the pump, where can i find it?, vehicle ran ok before apart from diesel leak, at end of tether! customer being very patient[but is not well] so could do with a result, any help would be great, regards, kirk.
sorry 1995 bongo.

Hi kpautos,

Try filling the fuel filter with diesel, sometimes they dont self bleed.

Cheers.

I had the same problem. See my post called - Diesel pump seals

The way I got mine running in the end was to take off the inlet pipe to the pump , put a funnel on the end of the pipe and fill with diesel. The engine should then start and run until the diesel is used up, the pump is now primed.
Put the inlet pipe back on and it will run.

Hope this helps
Garry

vehicle now starts and runs fine, no smoke, performance as it should be, thanks to all who helped me through including the very nice man at lawson diesels who supplied the seals!
next problems are 1, no speedo and 2, fuel gauge inop, will start searching for these now!

Hi ,
Not sure about the speedo but the fuel gauge is probably a duff earth through the tank.

Speedo is often a faulty conversion chip. Does the mileage read in miles or Kms?

the speedo is in mph so i guess its been converted, was out test driving it after fitting new belts and pressed the re-set on the mileometer and presto the speedo jumped into life, it lasted the rest of that journey and then resorted back to u/s, customer informed me that it would allways work if tapped lightly for a while, now its u/s all the time, any ideas?----sounds like the actual dash part to me-where is the conversion chip located?, thanks in advance, kirk.

Speedo will read in MPH, no matter how it's been changed. If the speedo face goes up to 110mph, it's probably a new face fitted over the old one. If it goes way over 110mph, the speedo has been chipped - that chip often causes speedo problems. Another way to check how it's been converted is shown in my earlier post - does odometer read in miles or kms? If it's miles, it's chipped. Ones with a new face still measure mileage in kms.
