Hi there, I have just driven the van for the first time in 2 weeks, everything seemed fine to except the speedo does not work and the HOLD light flashes constantly. Everything else seems OK. I have checked the fuses etc and they all seem fine. What do I need to be looking for next? I did search the problem but there are so many different problems/answers to do with flashing hold light!

You will probably find your speedo has been "chipped",,,,,could be
1...faulty chip
2...poor connection on back of speedo to chip.
turning the ignition off can sometimes clear the fault

A common problem is chipped Speedometers, where your Odometer reads in Miles ? If so check the wiring behind the instrument panel and gently tighten the screws holding the speedo itself which are sometimes the cause as they handle the electrical connections.

Copy of a recent email from Paul at LPG imports on this subject..
Did the speedo go at the same time or the needle flick down a little and come back up?
If the speedo chip gets no reading or volts drop or either on earth or + side it can do weird things like that, see how it goes. I had a (whisper Nissan largo) once that did it intermittently but never when he popped it in for me to look at, I replaced 3 speedo chips no fix, ran it without one and perfect, in the end I ran the negative and positive chip supplies from body earth and ignition switch and soldered instead of crimped all connections rather than rely on usually good ones on the rear of the head unit, I also pulled the speedo sensor cleaned all connections and silcon greased the connection when it went back together. The chips that had been swapped out went on other cars and worked perfectly. So what fixed it??? The cleaning of sensor the sealing of sensor against moisture? The good earth the soldered connections the reliable +12v ign feed? No idea
Monitor it might just be a once in a while thing, wouldn’t go looking at anything at this stage
