				Tackeroo 3 - Sunday 17th April 2011

Hi, I've just emailed the ranger to see if we can run Tackeroo 3 on sunday 17th April so this event is subject to confirmation.
Same format as last year i.e. a day meet on 17th with an option to camp before/after if people want.
It was £10 per night last year for camping and £3 for day parking, its a minimum facility site with no shops or facilities. But great for picnics, mountain biking etc.
Anyone tempted?

Does "no facilities" mean no toilets?

Oh dear, no portaloo = no camping for us then

. Might pop over for the day though.

It's the only downside to the site unfortunately, there are numerous bushes, shrubs and long grassed areas available though.
A poo bucket may be an option

There is a visitor centre a very short drive (or bike ride) away. Or, as Dobby says, lots of trees
Last year was great, the weather helped, I think it was also the time of the volcanic ash fiasco so absolute silence - bliss
A few pics
HERE from last year so you can see what to expect....

Now then, here's an idea for any of you into horses (I was always led to believe that horses only have two possible uses, in making glue and for Dutch
frikadellen)
The Sunday is Muzette's Birthday and on the Saturday we're planning to send her for an hour trekking on the Chase, see
 HERE
If anyone else fancies it on the beginner/novice ride which will be around lunchtime, they have up to 25 horses available and currently only one booking - £26.00 plus £1.00 for a hat - ideal for anyone thinking of camping on the Saturday or for any locals.
At the moment they're not sure whether it will be 12.00 to 1.00 or 12.30 to 1.30 as they can't imagine whether mid-April will be summer or winter.

Go on, think of the photo possibilities. I'll bring some fire-crackers

Mmm, I think there may be some interest from a dobette there

Good news from the Ranger - definitely ok for the 17th and I'm awaiting a reply from one of his colleagues about a Forest Road trail

i.e suitable for 2 wheel drive and 4x4.

I have a daughter who would probably be very interested in the pony trekking (is there a lower age limit Muz?)
Will need to ponder, fuel costs and all that boring stuff

fancy a camp though, we stay at a site in Shropshire that sounds similar (ie no facilities) so no probs on that front.

I'm sure your Mia would be ok, at that level they'll be guided at all times
Check out the photos from last year, it's wild camping in the trees
