Bongo Fury

recently i've noticed on ignition that it takes a few seconds for all the cylinders to start firing together (maybe 10 secs)

Also this weekend i've driven 650Kms ... when i drove 250 to my destination i got out the bongo and went inside for 10 mins .. then got back in the bongo to move it .. and there was a lot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust (immediate thought Headgasket ?)

I turned her over the next morning .. same misfire for a few secs but no smoke .. drove 100k .. parked up for 2hrs .. then drove back .. no smoke !

then on the drive home i checked the coolant - it was low and i had to put about a pint of water in .. stopped halfway on the journey home for fuel .. for about 10 mins ... got back in the bongo and again there was white smoke from exhaust .. drove the rest of the journey home with no apparent power loss or any other symptoms.

Bongo has not overheated, had a new water pump fitted about 2 weeks ago to cure a water leak (but seems its still leaking anyway)

Lumpy running on startup curing after a couple of mins could point at heaterplug or plugs being an issue and you will get smoke and sometimes a dieselly smell, this would generally be on first start of the day. It doing it when nice and warm after a good run would steer me away from this and the fact you believe you may be loosing coolant is dropping it into the area you dont want to be of headgasket head especially as it has had water system work recently.

When a head gasket goes sometimes they dont go completely and you can only have a little bit of pressure leakage between the layers of the gasket or a micro crack behind the injector shrouds in the head that is ok ish most of the time but when it parks up for a little while with no combustion pressure from the cylinders a little bit of water leaks back into the cylinders and you get smoke on start up.

You need to get it to someone that knows what they are doing, it needs a pressure test and a combustion gas block test, this will likely confirm head/headgasket.

If you dont have a coolant alarm I would get one on ASAP as it is likely to suddenly loose a lot of coolant.
