Sliding side door problem... Sorted!

Our sliding side door seems to be developing a fault - the whirring noise that usually accompanies closing it isn't happening sometimes now and it's not responding to central locking when this happens - can someone point me toward a technical sheet that explains what should be happening please?

When you say - checking - what exactly would I need to do. The three moving studs move and all look like they function but what do I actually need to check please?

clean the faces of the contacts(both the door side and pillar side)with a piece of light emery cloth or similar.that usually does the trick!!!

The three "studs" are meant to be sprung, thats for the soft closure function when drawing the door shut..
The two that don't move that are recessed slightly, when the door has fully closed the contact is made for the central locking to work... I was worried that you may have thought the 2 non moving contacts broke?! (People do..!

)

Love this forum - you learn something new everyday!
I always wondered why the 5 contacts weren't lined up and did think that 2 were broken but as the door worked I wasn't overly concerned.
So thank you Jaylee for clearing that up for me and adding to my ever increasing bongo knowledge

My dad bought a Mazda 121 a number of years ago.. (Fiesta in the Ford world.)
After two weeks i said how the car going.. He says i took it back to the garage, the rear tail wipe stopped working..

Within 30 seconds the mechanic said all fixed!!!
What was wrong said I? The tailgate wasn't shut properly...

I looked and sure enough there was about 4 brass contacts on the opening where the latch post was, & corresponding points on the inside edge of the tailgate... I dare say he didn't notice it wasn't locking properly either!!

Thanks for all the answers folks - the emery paper tip did the trick - the door closer is whirring and doing it's thing fine now.
Is there a way to mark the original post I made to indicate query solved?

should ne the soft closing mechanism that will complete closing of the door of you let it? Even if you shut the door completely, and hard, it will whirr as it catches up with you, as it were.
