Check out how lucky i have been, while taking my van to bits to investigate my strange noise when hot, look what i have found, i am currently inspecting deeper

and trying to find out how it could have happened. The cambelt was changed when i bought it 3 year ago by the dealer, if he nicked when putting it on then i have been driving my van and not hanging around in it for 3 year

35,000 odd miles

god what an escape

wether it is the cause of the noise i not sure

but as i said all along i'm not convinced it the bottom end as suggested, the noise to me was always louder from around the the vacinity of the front of the engine near the alt and steer pump but not them

a stethascope was inconclusive in my eyes as the noise was noticable thru the sump aswell

i know what i will be lookin at when i take the belt off

can't wait to drop the sump this week to see what horrors are in there aswell

ESPECIALLY AROUND THE OIL STRAINER
what is everyones thoughts

Hi
WOW

...that's your noise, alright...don't forget that sound is transmitted everywhere!...see what it's like when you change the belt...Sump off is a good bet anyway...on a second-hand vehicle you'll often find a nice little rats -nest or summat in there
Best of luck
Cheers

Yep the reason being i've done the one on my saab as they are known for it, perished breather pipes, sludge and fried rubber bits blocking the strainer, saab recommended semi synthetic in them but they should have been running fully, i run my bongo on semi when it should be fully synthetic which makes me wonder
Thanks for the good luck H me feels i will need it on the belt change but i'm always up for the challenge

I tend not to do internal combustion stuff...
Do you reckon yer neighbors been at it with a trained beaver with a lever???
Best replace it before it broke & it don't fix the engine.. (no that ain't right.)
If it ain't broke then the...?
