Bongo Fury

just like to say, what an essential piece of kit the low coolant alarm is.
i got in the bongo the other day after work and the LCA went off, so quickly had a look and the header tank was virtually empty. i topped it up to get home and had a good look around but could find no leak, so a phone call to a friendly bongo owner with a pressure test kit was made.
after 5 mins or so of pressure testing the system, the leak was visible and the water pump is goosed.
i check the levels on a regular basis and i reckon if i did'nt have an LCA fitted i would of cranked her up and gone on my way totally oblivious that the header tank was nearly empty.

You say it was nearly empty?, generally when the pump leaks its slow over a longer period, so if you havent noticed a slow loss of coolant before I would replace the pump and give it another good going over and check for more leaks.

yes i had been monitoring a slight loss and the pressure test found it. i have ordered a water pump from JAS, so will be fitting it when it arrives and doing another pressure test to check the system again.

There are those who reckon it's enough to check the level in the morning...yours could well have been o.k. in the morning (it was co's the level was above the sensor) it dripped away during the day.

Sounds about right then, its a shame you just cant buy a new seal rather than the whole lot, as its just the seal what generally goes.
