Bongo Fury

There is probably a million posts on this already but....
My leccy window switch (drivers side) doesn't seem to work on either its own or the passenger side window.
The passenger side switch works fine on its own window.

It was a bit intermittent recently but now doesn't work at all. So a couple of things;

1. My drivers window is now stuck open - how can i shut it without the switch
2. How can i fix the problem - is it new switch time or are there any tests i can do (the switch is now removed for the time being) to isolate the problem?

If there's nothing obviously bust on the switch, it may be ok, a bit of a clean shouldn't hurt though, ususally its the wiring loom between the door & body wher the clip bends it, stick the switch back on & give it a wiggle, unclip it from thr clip & you should get it to close eventually, then its a matter of finding the break & splicing in some new cable.

Sounds to me like the black earth wire in the loom between drivers door & body...
Either broke on the V to the clip on the hinge, or (Hazard a straight pinpoint to the exact location of break.) where it goes into the body under the rubber sleeve grommet thing..?!!

As Kirsty says.. You might get lucky in the sort term to shut the window by wiggling the loom with the door slightly open while operating the switch, until a repair is made.

Managed to do some wiggling and get the window up so can keep the rain out for the moment - will just have problems leaving car parks now

So you reckon the wire break migth be in the exposed loom bit between the door and body - i'll have a look and see if i can spot anything.
Just as a matter of interest how does the door panel come off?

Door panel removal, three screws on the outer panel rim (some of them may be under a plastic pop off cover), one screw in the door handle, one screw in the door pull. pull from the bottom to release the clips pull up slightly to get the lip from out of the window channel, then remove the plug from behind the panel to the switch and release the door handle from the pull rod. sound's complicated but is very easy to do.

Does anyone know if it is possible to open adn close the windows without the switch, by say, shorting out various wires on the switch plug

If you have a look at the wiring diagrams at the top of the techie section, you may find what you need, but top suspect would be the wiring at fault, in which case it wouldn't work anyway.

I second that, my first bongo developed the very same fault, twas worn bent wire in loom section from body to door section. Stripped it back, replaced the damaged wire and hey presto.

Nuff said. Will look at the wiring tomorrow.

the working without switch question was just in case it turned out to be the switch - just ebayed them and they are a couple of pence short of a million quid each! Shocking!

Look on the compatible list at the top of techie - there are other options if it is the switch & if it can't be repaired
Do you know anyone nearby that you could try their switch in yours to help diagnose the problem?

Was down you way a couple of weeks ago at a sailing event at the WPNSA - should have arranged for you to give my Bongo the once over.
Still got massive starting probs - i reckon it must be in the fuel line/delivery area.

Fuel filter, strainer? Or glow plugs?
