Bongo Fury

I have just fitted the Willinton Kit and my Low coolant alarm has stopped working. I've had a search and from what i understand, the coolant alarm is wired into something that the lesuire battery wiring then changes it. So it needs to be powered in a different way. Usually the light flashes and it beeps on ignition but now is dead. I wired the willinton kit following the instructions to operte the stereo, lights and blinds.

Or if anyone has a wiring diagram for the coolant alarm?

Ive only had the car a month or so, i;m assuming all the coolant alarms are the same, i'll grab a pic if needs be

sounds to me as if you used the Willinton kit's patching abilities to run electrical items e.g blinds, from the Leisure battery. You will probably have use one of the connections that the Low alarm had been connected too, which would have been on the ignition switch side of the fusebox..... what you will need to do is to find the power lead of the Low alarm and reconnect to another ignition switched source of power at the rear of the fusebox...Can't remember but I think the power wire is coloured red/black

Hi...find the alarm unit....normally below the steering wheel behind the removeable plastic cover.......forget the wires that go to the LED bulb........Forget the short Black wire with the bullet connector....
Now depending on how old the alarm is you will have left either a Black and a Red/Black (red/black is the pos)

or a Red/Black and a Red (red is the pos)

Simply put,the wire with the most red is the pos..
Get this Pos wire....dissconnect it and reconnect it to a switched live .....

Phone me if you don't understand.......Make a list of the wire colours before you do.

thanks for the help, i have removed the cover below the steering wheel and found the alarm cylinder. There are a few wired comming from it. Red/|Black wires has been located and goes into the third bottom half fuse from the right which is where one of the pink cables from the willinton now goes.

BUT.....How do I get the coolant red/black wire out, its not in a spade connector its just bare wire into what looks like a crimp like a rolled 'W' almost. Everything in the back of the fude board is the same.

Got a test light?

attach it to the fuse connctors and see which one goes live when you turn the key on then cut the coolant alarm wire and attach it to the switched one.

Remembering to insulate any bare wires leftwith tape

Agree with the advice above,

If you've used a willinton kit, you've taken the top fuses out so that the willinton kit supplies the circuits required via the bottom fuse connection. This means you will have spare top connections that still have a supply from the battery, two of which I think are ignition switched, all you have to do is make a little spade connector (maybe using half of one of the small fuses soldered on to the cable?) to go into that connection & make sure it has a fuse inline. easy

After quite a while of messing about lol. Ive done it so thanks to all above for the help!!!

The red/black wire from the alarm was joined to the passenger side blind wire as the wire didnt reach originally i assume. So I re solerdered them both once I has split them into two.

Seems like lots of us have tripped up with this now, as both of the kits are very common on Bongos maybe the instructions should cater for the possibility of both kits being used and how to correctly wire them up in these circumstances.

While it is common sense if you know your electrics, a lot of people are not experts in this.
