i noticed on one of the posts , that someone said he/she had filled the tyres with nitrogen .

whats the benifit of doing this ?????

normal air is roughly 80% nitrigen already ???????

This discussion brings back memories of Hancock's Half Hour (on the radio, long before the TV series).

Somehow the lads had acquired a car and if I remember correctly the task of cleaning it went to Bill Kerr.

Hancock or, possibly, Sid James demanded that he put clean air in the tyres.

Anyone else remember such trivia?

Costco (where my ahes are to be scattered) do this as standard.

N2 is inert.....and the main benefits are maintained pressure over time periods, removal of water vapour from the tyre................and less effect on alloy wheels. ................i think that O2 diffuses through the latex compound much easier than N2....don't planes use N2?

And the upshot?????....they will start to charge for Nitrogen, and it will be a real benefit to most Bongo owners regularly flying above 22,000 feet, or in the Bongo's everyday racing guise as it battles with supercars on its way to pick the kids up from grannie's pad

even asda charge for air now

ASDA will charge for the electricity to fire up the compressor and the purchase of the equipment - no such thing as "free air" Harry

thanks missfixit , seems alot of hot air , bit like the MPs to me , overpriced ,over inflated, also expensive to maintain, and not sure if it does any good in the end !!!!

I deal with a lot of compressed gases in my day job (amongst other things, medical gases in hospitals) compressed 'medical air' is slightly more expensive than medical grade oxygen
