Thats one awesome road!!!!

From the top of the hill..... Picture does not do it justice. :(

We came into Applecross from the North on the low road following the coast, and headed back the short way, when we got to the top of the Hill in Picture above, both the wife and myself swore the same word at the same time, When you see it for the first time for real it takes your breath away. Enjoy your trip.

The road to Applecross is not that bad. Just keep a good lookout for oncoming traffic and when you get to the really steep section keep in to the left and engage low gear.

I stayed at Applecross and went over the pass five times. There are some great views from the car park at the top.

Use your S gear with hold mode engaged for going up and down the steepest section. If you want to come down really slowly then use your L gear with hold mode engaged.

We stayed at Applecross 3 years ago with the car and tent but plan to go back with the Bongo sometime. We drove there the steep way from the south and left by the not so steep way to the North. Just take it easy and enjoy the view.

The campsite is great.

If it rains you can sit in the polytunnel which has been turned into a coffeeshop/pizza place/bar.

The Applecross Inn is great for beer and food. Mrs G recommends the seafood platter.

That polytunnel would make a great awning!

I agree Dave! The road to Applecross looks ace. I may have to visit there soon too.

Well, there's only 11 days to the day meet (10 for those meeting on the Saturday night) and I was wondering what time folk fancied meeting there. I was thinking of 5pm for the Saturday night and about 12pm for the Sunday day. Does that sound okay? or should we just say, "turn up whenever!" I thought if we had a time set then it would help those who had a distance to travel....

Thoughts on a postcard please....... or on here for convienance.

I have just been to Roseisle to check it out for next week. I have a couple of questions. Can we actually stay overnight there (at the entrance it says no caravans or tents)?

Did you know it's Pay and Display (£1)?

I am really looking forward to next weekend, I just hope the weather is better than it was today.

I have camped there previously in a tent and spoke to the Forestry Commission man in the morning. He didn't say that we couldn't be there but wasn't keen on the campfire in the woods. I don't know why! There's a good beach for campfires if that's whatpeople want to do in the evening. I know that they sometimes charge for entrance during the summer. I can handle a £1 fee. That sounds cheap for the use of the BBQ's and the toilets that are there.

Remember, we aren't in a caravan or a tent so that sign doesn't apply to us!
