Bongo Fury

Hi folks,

Can anyone advise as to where I can purchase the mechanism for a sunroof? The electrics are sound but the sunroof is currently being held in place by two wee blocks.

I don't know what happened as it was like this when I bought the Bongo

I've looked at websites who say they are breaking bongos but as yet no replies have come back

If it's held in place by the blocks how do you know the electrics work?

Because I pressed the button and it moved, I just to readjust the blocks.

I'm too afraid to actually remove the blocks in case the sunroof falls in or something crazy like that

The sunroof wont fall out because you have to lift it out of the frame not drop it out. There is a metal plate at one end of the glass to hold it in place. There is 4 bolts that hold each of the plastic blocks in place if you remove these there is 2 bolts under each block that attach the glass to the metal framework of the sunroof housing. Hope this helps if you need any more info then let me know as I had to replace the whole of my sunroof as when I bought my freda my roof did not work because one of the pulley cables that move the glass had snapped.

Cool thanks, I'll have a closer look at it tonight, I'm pretty sure some parts are missing such as those plastic blocks you spoke of

I'll take some pics and post them

No problem have just binned all the metalwork as its been sat in my garden for 2 years but still have the glass and all the blocks.

She's in the garage just now having a service etc done so when I get her back I'll have a closer look

Grease the runners & little wheels with lithium grease... You will see a major improvement with the sunroof operation! A fin at the front of the sunroof hole (the width of it) should pop up as it slides back a few inches... It wont fall in.

And here's a view of it running from the back (where the wee block is) to the front of the sunroof. Is anything missing? I've never seen another Bongo sunroof so...




Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I will be at the bash in June so you are welcome to look at my roof if you are there.

Looks all there to me! (From what i can see..) The wood appears to be just propping up the back?
I think the runners need a good clean & re-grease though.

If you remove the wood, does the glass stay up in place???
If so, try the switch? It may be a little slow to respond due to the gunk on the runners & wheels..?

I tend to re-grease mine in the spring when i first start to use it again..

Seriously, the glass could just be propped up by the wood (& this is just a theory) because the previous owner was hacked of with a water leak?
When you do get it open, check the gully on the outside of the window mechanism & the drainage isn't clogged...

I was thinking that too.

I'm waiting for it to stop raining in Glasgow so that I can check it out, the last thing I want to do is leave myself with a leaky sunroof in a Glasgow summer
