Bongo Fury

van has 45mm lowering springs fitted and has a rear camper conversion. I have a fiammia bike rack and when loaded [ 2 bikes & a fiammia carry bag] i get a noise from the rear of van when i'm doing 65-70mph. When i go back on the gas it goes.It dosen't do it all the time. When i'm not using the bike rack it's fine, no noise. could the cause be the lowering springs putting extra strain on the transmission?

I am sure there reports of lowered one having trouble with drive shafts, due to the new angle.

didnt bdc have to change his cv joints every year because of this ??

err states noise is from the rear, no cv's?! have you checked diff levels,as could be slack in the rear diff thats taken up under power, its a full on mission to rip it all out to inspect, but lots of places rebuild them if thats the case.

I think YBB knows that but was just wandering off thread (as some of us do a lot ) to answer Max's comment on BDCs 4WD.

What's your view Justin on the wisdom/risks of lowering suspension and then using a Bongo for normal (i.e. well loaded) campervan duties? I wonder if its a bit close to trying to have your cake and eat it?

With the suspenders lowered so much and the back laden you could be so close to the bump stops that you're hearing a "crash" when they bottom out, accelerating could make the rear squat slightly to clear the noise............................
