Bongo Fury

A member has put out the following SOS from Portugal. They have had a gearbox problem on their diesel Bongo, perormed diagnosis check, fault has now been cured. But the ECU will not reset and the fault code is still flashing.

I told them over the phone that the ECU is reset by the following:

Remove the wire from the negative terminals for at least 20 seconds.
Click on the brake pedal and release.
Re-connect negative battery terminal.
Start engine, and run for 3 minutes at 2,000 rpm idle.
Check all fault codes have cleared.

Is this correct? Is there anything I've missed?

sounds about right, i thought u kept the pedal pressed to drain any capacitive storage?

Remove negative cable(s) and press the brake pedal for around 10 seconds from memory.

Do they have a willinton kit fitted?, if so doesnt fuse 1 that gets re routed to the leisure battery power the ecu as well?, so maybe tell them to take the negative off the leisure battery too

I'm not the expert on this but if the Gearbox was the problem isn't it the Hold light that flashes indicating that the AT board has seen a problem and that it clears the flashing Hold light automatically once the cause of the problem has been recified? Whilst if its the Glow plug light flashing then its the ECU itself, and that does need a reset.
So if the Hold light is flashing there is still a fault with the Gearbox.
If its the Glow plug light flashing its a problem seen by the ECU, which will obly clear when the problem has gone AND its been reset
