Bongo Fury

I thought this was the right place to come for a bright idea....

Having had a minor collision with some fencing.. I have a small scar on the rear nearside wing of my bongo just below and behind the rear side window.

There is a minor dent in the metal which i was proposing to push out, but can't see how to remove the interior plastic panel that covers the bottom half of the body inside from the boot to the sliding door.

Anyone got any ideas, alternatively, how to pull the dent out from outside, without resorting to drilling hole(s) and self tappers!

I am happy I can fill and spray whats left but was trying to avoid using too much filler!

I have a similar issue since persons unknown in a Little Chef car park on our return from holiday,, cuase a dent in the rear pillar. It is a relatively minor thing but it catches the light and shows up a lot. It would be easy to push out I think if only I could get at the back of it (Dentmaster said they couldn't do it unless they drilled a hole somewhere to get the pushing device in and do it (I didn't want that )

So I'll watch this thread with interest

I remember a few years ago i had a nudge on the rear door of our Kia, rather than take the interior door trim off and push the dent out i tried an ordinary sink plundger , did the trick, then just touched up the paint and the jobs a coconut
Dunno if that'll work for you tho but might be worth a try

iv seen these things (not too unlike sink plungers) but they are designed for pulling dents out. i guess they could be smaller or stronger or sommin??

but you get them from halfords.

Do you have any friends who fit windows?
They use suction pads to hold the windows as the lift them, just a thought.

Good tip. But tried that on mine at the time with no joy I fear. I suspect though that a properly designed oil filled (so it can't expand under vacuum) sucker device approach would crack it, but couldn't find such a device after googling. So annoying because its dying to be sucked out

Sink plunger seems a good idea, dual purpose! but a bit large for the dent thankfully.

Basically you use cleaner and glue to stick a baton on the dent, then a bar to pull out. Didn't damage the paint on mine.

Now sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but for the money it was worth a shot, I got 2 dings out quite well, and one on a thick metal section it didn't manage to do anything to.

Also it should only be put on good paint, not on say a transfer.

Comparing the feedback on this against the others I assume that a more industrial/stronger suction cup works better than the smaller ones.

Check out youtube as well for dent removal. Some tips there (and some jokes !!) but there's talk about heating the dent up then suddenly cooling with a spray icer, and tips on using suction cups and the glue dent puller so worth spending a few minutes researching.

Like the joke one with the guy using popcorn behind a dent and heating it up, wonder if anyone has been daft enough to try that !!!

From the description in the initial post, it sounds like it may be on the panel rather than the pillar

Alternatively, I can give show you how to remove the rear interior panel, easy enough, seat of the way, unblot rear seatbelt bottom bolt, undo the screw holding thr junk tray in the panel & unclip the panel basically, trying not to let too many of the clips ping off into oblivion (may have a couple spare if they do)

Large magnet from a speaker and several quick tugs - preferably bond a handle or string to the magnet

I know - I was referring to my problem. But the general point is that suckers of the sort designed to attach by powerful vacuum to a flat surface (glass sheet) may not be able to achieve the same attachment if the surface has much of a curve on it. Best to think about that before forking out cash or effort. It'd be worth getting a pic. of the problem so maybe someone with one of these glass suckers can do a trial

weren't no sucker pulling this one out, it most certainly needed a new panel, still get angry about it now

I have just recently popped a dent out of my sliding door, just took inner panel off and manipulated it shall we say , just a scratch left on it now, unfortunately the sill wasn't so lucky and needed some creative work but looks fine now i done it
