AFTER THEFT OF RADIO. WIRING UP THE SPOUT. SPEEDO GONE MAD

Hi again.
After the theft of the radio last Thursday the interior lights went off. We have replaced Fuse 1 and everything seemed to be alright. Driving to Faversham today I went passed the usual speed cameras and automatically looked at the speedo.....IT READ 50 MPH

I was following quite a few cars and knew I wasn't doing that speed. Checked it more often after that......CAME HOME ON A 60MPH ROAD AT 100MPH.....felt really good THINKING I was doing 100MPH
Anyone got any ideas as to why this would have happened. Thanks.

Wonder if yours is a chipped speedo so that it reads mph? could have disturbed the connections? does your trip counter clock up in km or miles?

Hi Kirsty
It is a chipped speedo. It is a converted speedo from km to mph. Any help.

Your figures are almost exactly the mph/kph conversions. As Kirsty said, check the chip connections or replace the chip.

The speed chip connections screw onto the back of the clocks... The wires'll be immediately obvious upon removal of the dial cluster. I'd remove em, clean em using contact cleaner if you have any, then re-connect and check... Failing that, check the cables/connections for any damage/insulation breaks etc... If still no joy, replace the chip.

Or you could put an MX6 GA5R speedo in that reads in MPH & clocks up in miles-
http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... tip#p84097 - Give Maxheadroom a shout, he may be able to help. No chip to go wrong then

or remove the chip & just put a stick on face on the speedo to convert to MPH & clock up in KM/H (it's what I've got, don't have any issues with it)

Another avenue for us to follow. Cheers Kirsty.
