Bongo Fury

Hi

I am planning to take my Bongo to Glastonbury this year is it a good idea?

I am thinking of the west car park as I live in Wales.

I have thought about the negative side of it, walking back and fore, my mates are all camping and having a laugh around a fire and I am stuck on my own in a field, but the positive side is I can take as much gear as I want without having to drag it everywhere. I can cook, and I can stay dry if it pours down.

My big worry is getting stuck in the mud on the way out...

Anyone had good or bad experiences?

i haven't been to glasters for a long time ('94 i think ?).

could you possibly get your mates to kip in an awning ?

my mate used to be lonely on his own in his camper, and then we would spend most of the next day looking for each other.
(this was in the days before mobile phones !)

part of the fun is staying up all night with your mates and partying.

we didn't get stuck in the mud but did get stuck in a huge traffic jam leaving the site.

we spent all day (literally 8 hours ! trying to get out of one field just tp join a queue in another !

if i was you i would plan to stay over monday night as well.

chill out on monday - wait for the masses to leave and then leave tuesday morning without so much hassle.

as regards to getting stuck in the mud, my 4WD coped well in the snow (its got the original mud & snow tyres);
try to pitch on higher ground.

I was going to take my Bongo last year but we only had a for a few weeks. I took the car and got stuck in a 7 hour traffic jam on Wednesday morning around 9-00am, seems like everyone had the same idea.

This year they are opening the carparks on Tuesday night so hopefully everyone will go up then.

I am going with a few mates who have a caravan (sorry) so it should be a laugh

If you havent Booked the place apparently they sell quickly
We need to put a temporary kitchen in ours as its not a converted one to get past the rules for campers
So hope to see lots of you there

we have taken the bongo (baby) for the last 2 years and have had no problem at all with getting out, if you are going with friends that are taking a caravan you should be able to set up camp next to each other, i am not sure how much caravan/camper space there is on the west side as they only opened up some of that space last year, we set up on the east side where most of the caravan/camper space is and is a nice walk down to the festival site but a killer on the way out every day (steep hill)

We used to go every year for a good number of years. We started by following the hippies at the solstice festival at Stonehenge and just driving in for £38. No fences, no problems. Our car was next to our tent, which was right next to the circus tent! Those were the days. We stopped because of the attitude of many of the young people who attend nowadays. And it just got too big and commercial!

We've booked a campervan ticket for this year although I can't remember which site we're in. It will be our first festival in the Bongo, but we've also booked Bestival in September - a good top and tail to the summer festivals i think.

I was thinking of taking my Bongo to Download this year (sadly missed out on AC/DC tickets for last year's tour ). Has anyone ventured up to the Donnington site in their Bongo, and if so was it a bit easier to 'escape' after the event than Glastonbury?

Surely you mean your Bongo's planning to take you to Glastonbury?

Bongo's rule the world, you know. Certainly in charge in this household - even Mrs M's given up thinking that she is. And don't forget.....
