Ive got the normal slider type heater climate control, the knob that adjusts the speed of the fan only works on 1,2,and 4 what would cause no 3 not to work? is it easy to repair?

I suspect a quick check of the resistor that controls the Fan speed is called for, they have built in "fuses" i.e. a blob of solder that melts to prevent damage - see the fact sheets for full details on access and repair.

Absolutely loads on here about it - just do a search for "heater AND fan" (without the inverted commas) 8)

No, and I'd recommend spending a bit of time clearing gunge carefully out of the heater matrix while you have it dismantled. If it is blocked with black gunge like mine and others were, it makes a huge difference afterwards to how well the fan blows air (plus disappearance of nasty mildewy smells in the heating system). This in turn really helps demist the Bongo windscreen, which is prone to misting up in cold/wet weather.
