Broken Bongo - very sad :-(

My Bongo broke yesterday

anyone driving between Gloucester and the motorway between 0915 and 1515 will have seen it looking abandoned at the side of the road awaiting recovery.
Had it towed to ADS (South Bristol), looks like an expensive head/radiator job, not much change from £2K and no Bongo over Christmas and New Year which is a pain as I was banking on the 8 seats.
I do have another Mazda to use, an RX8 but I cant get my wife, my 91 year old Granny and the kids in it and it isn't very good in the snow !!!!
Baaaaaa Humbug Merry flippin Christmas.
Feel better now

Have a good Christmas everyone.

Sorry to hear this, hope you dont have too bad an alternative Christmas time.
Mine has just gone down, awaiting a replacement Alt idle pulley bearing from Cheltenham Mazda (3 weeks + ?) had to cancel my Christmas plans as well. (sealed-for-life bearing is sealed no more)
Is there anyone else with same Bongo problem, trouble always come in three's my missus says
Have a Bongo Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sorry to hear your news Griffin and Olebrock
We used ADS for our recent problems and are pleased with their work.
I hope the damage is sorted quickly and relatively cheaply
Sarah

Thanks Guys. Christmas was good if a bit different, we missed the eight seats and it'll be the same over New Year but I guess there are always options.
As for the Bongo, it's awaiting repair, I am hoping for some news this week but expect it'll be about the 2nd week in Jan.
Haven't quite worked out the finances yet but have to get it fixed as it's not worth anything in the state it is in now. I'll keep you posted.
Re: Broken Bongo - very sad :-( and Pulley Bearing 2.0l

Haydn, I had to be away over Christmas so hired a van as I didn't have time to replace the bearing also the pulley belt face is scored due to the bearing intermittantly seizing on high revs and causing the rubber smell. If the workshop (Stroudwater Canal) had been open I would have replaced the bearing and cleaned up the pulley face on the lathe.
FYI- Bearing is a NSK 6303 DUL1 !
Not sure why a Universal Dulpex (with Light pre-load) type bearing is needed as there is no side load on this pulley, so have ordered the new Mazda pulley and bearing assembly which should be available for me to re-fit when I get back home.
Griffin, hope all goes well with your repair. Keep us informed.
Happy New Year everyone.

Got my Bongo back !!!!!!
Got to admit I had wondered whether to throw in the towel and get rid but I just couldn't do it. The guys at ADS (Bristol) sorted it out and I collected yesterday in the snow.
Now got a coolant alarm fitted, don't want to go through that again !
I am now much poorer but have got my smile back, I have missed it
