Well it will depend on the wattage lets see;
http://www.cn-ice.com/car-heater-p-91.h ... 4wod0navJQ claims 200 Watts that's 16Amps, the 15Amp fuse in the Cigar lighter will blow for certain if you use your mirrors or radio!!
http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?Tab ... &U=Strat15 The Maplin one is 150 Watts so thats 12.5Amps, and read the FAQ especially
Q- Does the car have to be on ie running for the heater to work or does it just work off from the car battery? - suresh

Answer- This can work off the car battery but it would drain rather quickly.
Are they a Joke ? No they earn these companies lots of money, and leave you with a piece of waste material that will cost you to dispose of :lol:

If you've got to have the engine running, might as well use the bongo's heater #-o :lol:

I had one (in fact it may still be somewhere in my garage :oops: ) and it never got hot enough to be dangerous - just useless :lol: :lol: It was quicker to warm the engine up to defrost the windscreen although, to be fair, it made a nice toasty home for the spiders #-o

I still have one but dont use it, as the wire gets hotter than the heater.

I think you've hit on the answer 8) - tape the wire to the windscreen :lol: :lol:
I'd forgotten about the wire getting hot #-o

I found that you have to put it really close to the glass to get it to work even to clear small patches. :roll:

these are another "spin" on things...... if you use them when the engine is fired up.... should clear the screen quite quickly...
http://www2.westfalia.net/shops/car_acc ... er_12v.htm The Diesel Bongo does take a while to heat up on frosty mornings while stationary......these could help.....

My Bongo is parked close to my house and I have Rain-x on the windows, the combination helps the frost not to be too harsh and clears quick without the need for these types of heaters....
A friend.... puts a fan heater in his car 1/2 hour before leaving.....it warms the car and the windows clear easily... he used to have a greenhouse paraffin heater in overnight... :shock: :shock:

I think in my case it would be easier to plug the hook up cable into the garage overnight and put the lecky fan heater on a timer plug, its sits great on the armrest console :D

seems like a plan for those with hard wired mains on board....... a toasty inside of Bongo and easy clean windows.... :D :D
