If anyone has an old thermostat that they could send to me, I would greatly appreciate it.
I am currently doing a rather in-depth study of what is proving to be a superb piece of engineering.
I have built a rig to do heat tests on my own stat and I only have one (new) stat left.
It may be interesting to get some results from other folks stats, especially if the history/type of vehicle, etc were known.

hi Steve,

I still have my 'spare' from my diesel days - never used other than to boil it once when checking out earlier attempts at doing what you are doing so successfully 8) =D> - but are you looking for used ones :?:

I was going to keep it for swaps but haven't found anything I need yet - but more than happy to donate it in the name of science.

I could pop it in the post if you want it.

:-k I'd be happy to donate it to someone that wants to renew theirs and then they could send you their old one. :-k

Regards Grahame

New, used, failed, - any.
Not quite sure what comparison will throw up or indeed precisely what I am doing apart from producing records.
The rough test I did recently was on an old stat of unknown history.
The one I am currently conducting (when the boss has gone to bed cos she has a pan exactly the size I want - she'll never know) is on a new stat.
Plan is to have several runs at it to see if its consistent.
The more stats I can check, the more meaningfull the experiment. If stats have a known history, particularly stats that have 'failed', then the data will start to form a pattern. (I hope)

As far as your kind offer of a donation is concerned, thank you very much. If no one takes you up on the 'free home' offer, then I'll take it.
I think all the hacking and carving has been done now, so you might even get it back in one piece.

I think I can possibly sort you out with a couple. We've recently changed hoses, stats etc. on both of ours. The old stats will probably still lurking about in the garage. I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know.

Cheers

Toni
