O.K. We've had the heated mirrors, but does anybody know if there is a heated screen available for the north of Japan....I REALLY need one of those for the winter...

Technically there could be as Ford owns the patent and Mazda too, but I doubt you will find one, unless you can make a Mondeo windscreen fit

Thanks for the replies...The hairdryer would take too long, and applying direct heat to a windscreen applies heat in a patchy way which can cause cracking....and Ford owning the patent???...Minis had heated screens way back ...used in rallying, and later were available off the shelf. also, I believe the old Rover 3.5 coupe had them as a lot were exported, and years ago, there was one model for all markets, and , certainly, the old "Auntie" Rover had block heaters as standard at one time, and built-in hydraulic jacks for wheel changing. As to modern heated screens, they are so much better, so , I had to wonder whether Mazda did anything that tricky....obviously not as cold over there. Rovers used to be exported to Canada, and at one time, every car parking place in town had an electric hook-up to plug your car into while you shop!....else you find it frozen solid once you return!!!!. Over here we aren't that cold, but , commonly , you can get 1/4 inch of ice on the screen, frozen solid at minus 15....just from moisture in the air!

I've not heard of a heated Bongo windscreen but if I do I'll let you know.

But as you said, there is a risk with applying heat to a windscreen, so I would be wary of using one. I wonder if anyone has tried one?

Thanks for that...I also found another one...so I'll start some enquiries. The thing about many of the heated screens in the old days was that the thin silvery wires were visible in bright sunlight...but some years back they started to become available with almost invisible wires...I think on continental cars. On the Bongo they would be rather good, as I've heard several people complain about the screen misting in wet weather in traffic, and needing the blower on screen...'tis true...it's just one of those cars that do...I have no leaks, and the heater is fine...the screen is just inclined to mist if you have damp dogs or wet clothes!

You are bringing back old memories,we used to have a Austin Sheerline with hydraulic jacks.

What about removing some heated seat pads from a car/vehicle that is no longer used.

We had a set that we gave to someone to stop their water bottle of the caravan freezing. They have a thermostat and they run on 12 volts.

ford ave just recently let mazda fit a heated w/screen to the new mazda 3.its something that i miss very much especailly in glasgow ,my last 4 motors had it and i was spoilt i guess.

The Heated blanket seemed great as I go to a lot of Festivals but it said its discontinued
Anyone seen it on antither website?
