Bongo Fury

There is a switch with a pic of a engine, adjacent to the ignition switch.
What exactly does it do ?
Ive been told its for starting in really cold weather. (You would think this would be automatic these days.)
Does it self-cancel if left on ?
If not required in the UK , can it be disconnected without upsetting something else ?

Hi, it was used to warm up the engine in certain parts of Japan, but DON'T use it here else it could do some engine damage.

It closes a valve in the exhaust, to warm up quicker. Used in North of Japan, where it gets very cold.

Do you have the twin batteries as well?

AFAIK, it won't do any harm, except to your wallet, as the valve closed reduces mpg!

Lots (me included) have removed the switch, and taken out the gubbins it works (under the passenger seat).

Yes it had the twin batteries - one is a leisure battery now.

I shall look to see if the exhaust valve is still there and consider disabling it ib case it gets stuck.

Having done a search I realise this is a common question by newbies - sorry I bothered you. But thanks anyway.

Disable it.

It runs like a bag of spanners when on & can get stuck open if not been used for a while. Plenty of info if you do a search.
