I got a dead back box, come away in me 'and it 'as..!
I can't complain, the beast of burdens done me proud this last one score & ten months or so...!

Seen this. http://www.mazdabongoshop.co.uk/Shop/Ex ... t%2BSearch Good value guv?

I normally pays a ragamuffin to fit my zorst at local workhouse, but thought i'd give the fitting a go myself... What's involved..? is it just a question of bolting pipe to pipe, or is there more a science involved?

God bless you all.. & May this be the best Christmas ever!!

You don't need a backbox dude. Makes no odds - honest, just stick a tube on.

If vanity requires they're about 45 quid.

Where could a fellow obtain such a tube? & would not her majesty's MOT inspectorate fail such a contraption this March hence? Though, i must admit to no increment in noise since the untimely removal of the infernal back box humbug, kind Sir!

If you can hang a while, I'm about to release my 8" stainless howler of a back box.

You're welcome to first refusal but only recommended if you don't get on with the neighbours.

My zorst developed a hole after the front box on the up bend.....ooo matron....

A charitable source purchased me a Stainless full zorst from MIJ performance, for services rendered....... :D

You can choose your tail pipe(s) too....... I just had a standard single round job, but they do square. doubles, large and small bores........and no future worries with the Zorst... Hope ya get it sorted

You certainly tempt me.. & i know of this zorst well.! I am at this moment sans back box..

 My neighbour is a fine fellow & a retired upstanding pillar of the community, we get on well. But alas i fear the noise emitted may be too much to bare for his ailing wife's fragility... The mere spectre at the midnight hour of this zorst like the dear departed Isambard Kingdom Brunel howling & wailing through the car park could on the other hand be just what i require to ring in a new year of hope & prosperity?! :D

You don't need a backbox to pass the MOT Jamie, a few people have used a bit of flexi & a short length of exhaust, apparantly without too much effect on the noise levels, don't forget it's got a middle box too.

Hi there,

A few months ago I had my back box changed. Held on with 2 bolts and a rubber band support. It was done at a garage, glad it was as the old bolts would not come out, despite soaking in releasing agent, then heating with blow torch etc. In the end the nuts sheared off, garage had to drill out old bits and put in new bolts. Being on the ramp and having the bits to hand really helped, not something I would like to have done outside my house. Possible with patience etc but exhaust bolts can get pretty stuck on.

You may need as gasket as well, best to check and also check the condition of the rubber support, may be on it's last legs.

Mr Munkey (gawd bless 'is soul) donated me a back box. As if to echo Toyota's 'Just in Time' supply chain philosophy, the old back box fell off on the way home from collecting it. I had the replacement on in 30 mins, and I'm an old codger and no mechanical genius. I needed a pair of ramps to drive the rear wheels up on to, I used a bit of Plusgas to help release the rusty old nuts, and a six sided socket and extension bar to get leverage, and that was it. Two bungee retainers to undo so it can drop - all very easy.

A while later my middle box wore out. Mr Muzorewa (that esteemed gentleman of tropical extract - gawd bless 'is soul and devil take the hindmost) kidly donated me a middle box. I bought a couple of gaskets from Bongobits and braced myself for a trickier job but no, it too was a doddle to do, rusty nuts notwithstanding. Grazed an arm bone when the extension bar released the nut too suddenly but that cars innit + old fogeys at work.

So with the right tools, this is an easy DIY job if you are not unlucky with the nuts. The old Bongo is full of surprises, most of them pleasant  8)

P.S. - worst bit is trying not to get bits of rust in your eyes - if you have some good goggles, wear them. Being an Irishman, I didn't

I must admit the loss of the back box created no noise issue.. Though i did have the windows open in case of any CO2 issue?

Many thanxz to Mr eM for his offer, (& the great advice from from the crew! 8) ) but after consideration & deliberation i felt i couldn't put my neighbours through it with the Munkey ZORST!! #-o :D  I park virtually right next to their bed room, with just a few concrete otters to muffle the sound!! (Bungalows.)
Besides, my mums dog knows the meaning of the sound of the "Tokyo tractor".... Walkie's!! \:D/ (RE; The green beast in my avatar.) When i have the dog over mine, he even knows the sound of my 'puter winding down...

So i went for the classic..! All sorted! 8)

... Next job on the list anti roll bar bits on the front... Apart from that, all OK! :P

I was rather enjoying your Dickensian scribblings.

What have we got now? Concrete otters? Green dogs? Mr Dickens would have known of none of that. Must be that time of night I suppose

Anyway, concrete otters? Associated with bungalows? Euphemism for bungalows? Would I be doing the wrong thing in putting a set of nodding meerkats for the garden on my Christmas list?

Glad your exhaust is sorted.

Hi Alison,
The otters ain't mine, i must hasten to add... There's also a concrete fox in an "unnatural" pose...
But i do have a Bungalow... So much easier to navigate when drunk!
