Bongo Fury

Our heater fan has stopped (front and rear). Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I haven't managed to figure out which fuse does what, so haven't tried that yet.

Hi Al. Lots of stuff on here about heater fans, resistor blowing etc. plus a factsheet in members area. Have a search and all should be revealed. 1st thing would be to remove the intake under the bonnet and see if the fan is turning freely. If not, you'll want to strip it down and get it running freely again before tackling the burnt out resistor (assuming that is what has cuased the non function). Good luck - keep us posted

FAQ here - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 43&t=28727 - covers most of it. Unusual for the rear not to work, you know it has to be switched on from the front, "rear" switch on the panel on the digital climate control model or a seperate "rear" switch with a fan symbol on the dash.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm a total novice, but that gets me started. Reluctant to take it to a garage now when the know how is right here! Had a quick poke around since. Fuses are fine and no sign of blocked drainage, but will wait for daylight before taking things apart. My original post wasn't quite right - the rear fan does run but only with the front dial set to 1:

- with front dial on 1, rear fan works (with separate switch on dashboard), and A/C green light works, but front fan doesn't work

- with front dial on 2, 3 or 4, nothing works

Will report back...

useful to know that. Sounds like no prob with rear fan then. Its v. quick indeed to remove the intake cowl for the front fan and check if the front fan motor is turning freely. Recommend doing that next.

Sounds like it's probably the usual, fan either siezed or on it's way which may also have damaged the resistor pack, both repairable with the help of the fact sheets in the members area. Make sure, if it is the fan, that you drill out the drain hole a bit bigger in the bottom of the plastic fan casing before re-assembling, this gets blocked, which results in the fan motor drowning.
