Just got my V6. Now for the questions.....

Greetings
I picked-up my V6 yesterday, and spent a portion of last night inspecting the various gadgets and buttons. I've pretty much sussed it all out but I do have a couple of questions:
1) What does the lower button on the automatic gear shift do?
2) There's a green LED over the ignition key slot that appears to stay on permanently. Is that right?
3) I've just bought a TM2 combination (I don't want to be the first V6 to have an overheat), and when I spoke to Haydn Callow he mentioned that on a V6 the temp senser should be placed between the cylinders. Can any V6 owners with this device describe how they've done this?
I think that's about it for now. I'm sure there will be many more questions to follow. Hope you don't mind
I can't wait for the weekend when I can really hit the road in my Bongo.
Thanks
Adam

The lower button on the gear shifter is a HOLD button and a light should come on on the dash R/H side....It holds the selected gear...useful for steep hill/towing etc....I never use it but some peeps do....
Where aare you ???best to put your location in your profile

Thanks for the info.
Any idea about that green LED?
I've updated my profile accordingly.
By the way, thanks for the speedy delivery of the TM-2. I'm going to try and install it this weekend as long as the rain holds off.

The green led above the ignition should turn off by itself after a minute or two, I watched it one night (as you do) but lost track of time

Hi BA, & greetings to you too..!
I think they LED's just a courtesy light for the ignition key..! I don't know about the staying on all the time bit..? logic would say it turned off when the vehicles locked & comes on when the doors open.
I don't have one myself, but have the room for a similar mod in the cowl.. Possibly even flashing when alarmed?!!

Now there's a thought...!
(csmcqueen beat me to it!)

Yes, welcome to the funny farm, and much happy bongoing. Yes, the green light is just to help you find the ignition lock in the dark.
I sent some pix to Haydn, of where the TM-2 sensor is fitted, between the two banks of cylinders on my V6 - but can't remember if I ever forum posted it. Should still be on photobucket, so 'ang on a tick, while I search.

Nope, not still on photobucket, PM's are deleted before the most recent 50, and they're not in any open forum posting that I can find. So, no picture for the moment, and here's just description:
At top centre, at the front end of the cylinder block(s), locate the coolant top hoses and bleed pipe take off points.
From memory, just below there, the main engine temperature gauge sensor is bolted to the block, and there's a spare bolt close by (flange bolt or something of that sort) - mine's secured by that bolt head, and works a treat. If still needed, PM me, and I'll open the engine up and photograph it again (probably tomorrow, can't do today) - but you should have no problem. Cheers.
