What cruise control unit would you recomend and how easy is it to fit to a '96 Bongo ?

If you do a search on "cruise control" you will find more information than any of us could possibly repeat here.

The choice is down to either an Audiovox from the USA via ebay or a Waeco from Germany via ebay. Again the links for both of those should turn up in a search.

IMHO cruise control is the best ever addition to a Bongo you can make.

Fitted an Audiovox CCS100 recently (bought on eBay). Very easy to fit (1997 2.5 TD 4WD). Actuator / control box lives just in front of the air filter, Vac line is connected to front of the engine to a convenient T piece (intended for the winter kit exhaust valve IIRC), wiring was pretty straightforward using info on this forum. Throttle cable run parallel to the original one, and connected using the chain-link.

One slight issue with it is that it won't hold a speed above about 65mph - I probably need to change a dip switch related to the VSS pulse rate. just not had time since I fitted the kit.

I fitted a Waeco MS50 in about 4 hours, and could easily do it in half that now I know how to do it.

Very easy, and as mentioned, the vacuum take off is already in place. Lift passenger's seat, sine a torch to the front of the engine and you should see a vertical metal pipe with a T of about 1/2".

Use a pair of pliers to grip the very end of the rubber cover (on the T) and pull it off, don't grip the metal pipe.

Take off should be a push fit.

With our MS-50, that was sorted by just moving the external dip switch on the controller to 'H', for high sensitivity. Now reliably holds from 20-75 mph - haven't tried higher. Resume function does require speeds well in excess of 20 mph (probably close to 30 mph), to kick in though.

Has anybody fitted one of their electronic throttle models? Thinking of adding one to our Nissan Note.

That rings true - I have all the dip switches at default, and sensitivity was indeed M. Not sure what the difference is between Audiovox and Waeco units, but there seems to be a lot of similarity...
