Hi there.

There has only just been a link with this one. Embarrassing and maybe expensive but there is a lot of information on it. Under Oops is it petrol (I think).
Check it out.
We are still smarting from our mistake recently. Same thing.

Hope it gets sorted.

get as much out of the tank as possible then refill with diesel ,hopefully all will be ok. my son did it last year with a peaugot 307 courtesy car, we drained tank and fuel lines and diluted it with as much diesel as we could and it ran ok afterwards.

Couldn't find it, as it was in chat rather than techie or fuel - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 77#p348777
You'll have to drain it, whip off the fuel filter too & fill with diesel to help get it going again.

RAC did it for me when Mrs M did the same thing.

Towed us to a local back street garage, drained it - mostly from the fuel filter end of the fuel line as it was taking ages trying to suck it from the tank end, filled filter with diesel & all was well. Only problem doing it youself is working out what to do with eleven gallons of contaminated fuel.

Bongo garage may be better, elsewhere they may try & make it into more of a drama than necessary. Whereabouts are you? ( #-o just saw you're in Wrexham) If you stick your location in your profile by clicking on user control panel we can see where you are.

Shake it down your trouser legs when you're out in the exercise yard.

Only damage is to the pocket!, it won't harm anything in the fuel system.

I mentioend this device on the other thread:

Anyone know if there is some kind of (cheap) cap easily available that could be fitted in order to avoid this apparently rather common mistake (just waiting for the day it catches me out :? )?

Might there not be longer (or shorter if unlucky) term issues with components such as the fuel pump due to petrol's solvent properties?

Its more likely to do damage the other way round.

Diesel fuel in a petrol system can prove an expensive fix. Many peeps on here have done the "Ooopps . . . petrol  " faux pas but no-one has posted any ill effects.

In fact petrol in diesel system on a short term or very rare basis especially in extreme weather conditions is considered to be a plus as it stops the diesel glooping up in the cold.

Worry not. It'll be fine.

On a totally different note, intended purely to make you laugh  I have had diesel vehicles since 1994 so haven't cocked up (yet!!! ) but I had a courtesy car once which was a little petrol Peugeot and I went to fill up chanting "petrol, petrol, petrol" to myself and I got it RIGHT!! I was so pleased that I had put the right fuel in it that I drove off without paying. I was so chuffed with myself that a couple of hours later, when the police phoned me up I still hadn't realised. Jolly chaps that they are here, the copper on the phone asked if I was blonde!! Had to go to Sainsburys and pay for the petrol and then to the police station to show them my receipt
