did everything you guys advised me last time it happened inbetween been to isle of wight and scarborough approx 1000 miles since bleeding it no problems then out of the blue taking wife to work it did it again. now i know it wasnt coolant loss becos ide only just checked it day before and it was still on full mark. i pulled over and looked under bonnet and coolant was running out of header tank overflow pipe. i turned heaters on to full to try and cool it down and they blew cold. another worry becos last time they blew hot(red). so any ideas on my problem this time as i said done 1000miles since repair and bleed so youd think it was a new prob or is it an extension of old one help please. wifes looking at me as if i did it wrong last time i told her a little 600 mile round journey would have found that out.

Hi Wrighty
I had exactly the same problem i.e. header tank was overflowing. Mine was down to a faulty thermostat.
Get that changed first unless you have contaminated engine oil which would suggest a blown head gasket.
Best of luck.

Woh there horsey. So it is coming out the tank but there is no heat in heaters. Stat maybe but I think there is no circulation. Waterpump or blockage. And I am no expert.

right flushed radiator with hose put hose on bleed pipe and let it flow through for 10 mins or so then put drain plug back and let it fill through bleed pipe till it came out of radiator top put cap on and let it fill the header tank. then let engine run for 20 mins or so with bleed pipe in a raised bucket full of water it blew air out for about 20 mins then water came out for a bit kept filling header tank all the while. bled it for round about half an hour. put plug back in bleed pipe. temp gauge was on usual 11 oclock mark tried heaters they blew red hot. so back to where i was. did it this way becos found it immpossible to get any type of spanner to the nuts on the thermostat.(how do you get the bloody thing off) going to try it for a bit before booking it in to the garage (basically becos ime wondering if it was just a glich) heres hoping and thanks for your replies again guys (and girls).

To get stat housing off you need to go at it from underneath with a long extension on your socket and ratchet. If you have a wobbly joint thingy too that would help. Remove the dipstick screw whilst doing it too.
Good luck.
