Hello all bongonauts,

A mechanic noticed a small oil leak on inside of alloy wheel on passenger side at rear. i have a 4WD bongo and he thought the seal had gone on driveshaft. Tried to replace - failed, plugged with silicone. Can still see v slight oil leak. He thinks whole driveshaft will need to be replaced £200-300 :( . Is that right do you think or is there anything else it could be. There is no noise, bongo has gone well for 2years but there is a definate slight leak as on new wheel (we switched the rear wheels over) i can see the new drops of oil forming inside wheel rim.

would welcome any help from bongoteers. Bongo is based in Kegworth, Leicestershire.

The mechanic should've had the sense to check the diff breather - it's situated on the diff banjo and often clogged with underseal/crap. It can be prised out and cleaned. :D

Worth checking before handing over £300 for him to clean it out

thanks very much for that supreme being. i think i'll ask my friendly mobile bongo mechanic - who doesnt do MOTs you see, to check this out sometime soon, before my hardearned is committed to something other than one of those fancy rooftop mats or a nice non-japanese stereo.

many thanks
