Indicator side repeater bulb replacement

Probably very simple.... but can someone please explain how to get access to the bulb in the little indicator side repeater on the wing? I had a quick look .... but it started to get dark....which hampered my investigation somewhat! :? Does it slide on the outside? - and in which direction? Any particular technique? Or do you have to dismantle the wing and wheel arch? Did a quick search (on 'ere) but could not find a similar thread.

Thanks

lift the bonnet, you will find a screw on the top of the sidelight/indicator assembly, remove the screw and pull the unit forward, it is held in by some ball/socket type plastic fixings......... remove replace the bulb(s) and refit in the reversed process.......

Just had a look on Wikipedia for some original Japanese Bongo pics and realised that the side indicators are an after-market addition for EU/UK conformity!

Look no side indicator
so it probably depends what type (and location) the dealer fitted on import.

Mikexgough, Its not the proper indicator/sidelight assembly (that you very accurately described) that I am having the issue with - its the little repeater on the wing.

I know what you mean Bonog.

Had a bulb go & put up with it for months then I lost one of my little orange covers on a side repeater during a hand car wash incident & thought my life was over as I could see no way to retrieive the actual bulb & wiring from where they had dropped down between the wing & inner wing. :(

A clever chum of mine fished it out with a coathanger & I replaced both sides with a pair of smart grey ones with orange bulbs from ebay.

If your covers don't appear to twist off (mine were glued on!) Just buy a new universal pair for less than a tenner, dump the old 'uns & smack 'em on, the new bulbs fitted into the existing holders no problem.

Easy peasy if you have to.

If you have the round orange type side repeaters fitted, the chances are the orange lens will break from the body of the lamp when you twist it to remove... Have a spare (decent) set on standby just in case. I replaced mine (my first bongo pimp ever) with some smoked ford oblong type of the mid 90's era. (same size hole too)

Thank for the advice. and had a go today and managed to prise off the cover without breaking any of the lugs! (oval type repeaters) - new orange wedge, refitted and sorted. :D

PS Replaced a few other bulbs while I was at it - replaced (pimped) the sidelight wedge bulbs with 4x led wedges from Halfords- looks far better than the pathetic old bulbs -But are they legal?
