Remote Locking!!

Hi again all,

I know I'm new to Bongoing, and I hate to be a pest, but can anyone advise how to reset the central locking as I am now unable to remotely lock up my Bongo (unlike my daughters, who should have been locked up long ago!!)?

Somehow, the central locking becomes 'overridden' and I have to lock doors with the key instead of the central remote locking. The blip key will still lock the driver's door, but the rest have to be done manually. I have had this problem before and somehow managed to sort it out, but this time it won't seem to come right.

Can I also say that I am absolutely in awe of all you experts who advise about various problems and remedies! =D> I am starting to think that to own a Bongo is no easy task! I dread any hiccups as all I wanted was a nice little van for me and my daughter to go camping. But now, I'm getting worried that I have taken on a major challenge just to keep it maintained!! ](*,) [-o< 8-[

It could be down to the wires between the drivers door & body getting chafed where they're bent back on themselves, or possibly the battery getting low. Have you got a leisure battery? If you've got the circuits from fuse 8 (I think) on the LB & it's running low, the central locking will start playing up.

as Kirsty has said if you have a leisure battery and if its not keeping a charge or is low on power then your central locking suffers.

Welcome maliboo and try not to fret about Bongo ownership. Firstly, all cars area worry. Secondly, because we have this great forum, any worries with a Bongo get aired publicly, making you think it is especially prone to trouble. But it ain't so - its an illusion caused by our problems being easily viewed on this forum whereas boring cars and their owners simply suffer in their own silos, each unaware of the other. Ok the Bongo is a bit (but only a bit) more of a liability than a standard car, but its probably less of a liability than many camper vans and a lot more capable and affordable. And this forum is a huge asset, making ownership much less of a worry.

Turning to your problem, can you confirm that if you manually press down the drivers door lock plunger, that the other door plungers all operate. If they do not this would tell us something (a wire) has let go between the master plunger and the rest of the set-up. Make sure battery is well charged as advised above then test by manually pressing the drivers door one to see if the others operate. If they don't then - as Kirsty says - it sounds like a break in the wiring. The remote control itsef sound like it is oprating OK if it is still working the drivers door.

Good luck - keep us posted 8)

Thanks so much for all the advice and reassurance with regards my 'Paddy Wagon'. I will have to try all these remedies tomorrow as it's lashing down rain here just now and besides, I'm off to a party tonight. Time to put on the glad rags and glam up!! But I will certainly report back when I have experimented a little!! :D
