Warm handbrake?

I know the seats etc in the cab will get warm because they sit over the engine, but how warm is normal? I was just starting to realx with my bongo when today I realised that the central console bit was really warm, especially the base of the handbrake (being metal), but the seats weren't really that warm. Is this ok? Each time we had been driving for a good half hour usually slightly uphill or hilly.

Ok, as long as its not about to explode or anything. I'm getting very frustrated not understanding the engine, might have to sign up for an evening class on mechanics! It did occur to me that it was the first time I kept the windows totally shut, which made it more obvious because I could feel the heat on my face. But I did a trip down to Essex and back with no problems, it ran beautifully!! =D>

Yes - hot handbrake has been commonly reported. It seems to me though that it shouldn't really get too hot though before the engine bay scavenger fan sensor switches it on in order to scour hot air from the engine bay. I've fitted a manual over-ride switch to my scavenger fan especially so I can cool the handbrake lever when needed - other times just use it as a handwarmer
