Bongo Fury

Hi. from archieves kinda know where the cover is but we have a full side conversion, I think it's in the unit next to sink but the floor is covered with ply. don't fancy cutting with only an vague idea. Any help would be great. Thanks Rich

Just had a look and the whole floor has been covered in one piece of plywood. Does anyone have any dimensions from the rear wheel arch to locate the cover, other wise I'll have to take the conversion out to lift the plywood out. Not realy a job I fancy if I can help it.

Thanks for the link of pictures, looks completely different with the conversion and is quite difficult to vissulise it's location. It looks very close to the offside wheel arch.

Thanks for the pics missfixit, I have removed most of side convers. and cut the plywood floor out (just once thanks to pics) and have repaired the bad earth but this has not worked . I have checked the guage in the van and this works when the connecters are placed together. Must be the relay unit in the tank which looks to be held in place by one rivet. Are these relays none to go and if so are the easy to purchase and fit. The fitting looks straight forward just the purchase realy. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks guys Urchin

try ebay new are silly money but ive seen and have got for mine one secondhand

Well done everybody and thanks for all the help. I did the magic earth, this didn't work. I took the sender unit out and cleand it, that didn't work. Thought about buying a new one (£178 del.), too much so that didn't work. Thought about second hand one (£80 del). Far too much so that didn't work. HIT THE TANK WITH A RUBBER MALLET A FEW TIMES. THAT REALY WORKED. So I think all in all the earth the clean and the whack all helped to resolve. Thanks again for all the help, weldone.

If it doesnt work first time, use a bigger hammer!!!!

Im about to do the opperation aswell fuel gauge stoped working prperly half a year ago and has stopped completly couple of months ago.
yay for having to take all my tools and floor out of my van grrr....

Already ran out of diesel once!! Good thing tho I believe there might be a sensor or something that shuts of the diesel suply to the pump when your out, so no air will get into the pump..??
It was a quetion of 5 L of diesel and start a few seconds and of we went!

Woohoo I did it. it was a bad conection just as others on the other side of the planet!

I carfully cut of the plastic conector so to only have the copper conecters left.
shorted the circuit and guage was working ( took about full minute to get to top tho!)
cleaned and reatached the yellow wire as it was.

folded open the copper conector of the black wire and drilled a 4mm hole in it, then unscrewed the nearest tank top screw and attached the black wire to that.

As per Gordon Ramsey: FIXING THE FUEL GAUGE, DONE!!!!!!

Took only half n hour talking tools out + fixing the gauge!
now the floor and the tools need to go back in grrrrr....

Excellent. Mine's flaky too - OK most of the time but once its damp/cold it fusses. Made me laugh as it jumped from 1/2 last night to 3/4 this morning just because I put 3 litres of veg oil in. In truth it was probably because the weather was warmer and drier.

How did you get on pulling the carpet back - did it take a lot of strength/puffing to lift it and did it stretch or tear, and does it look as though it will glue back and look 'as good as'? This is the bit of the job that puts me off most.
