Binding Brakes?!

Hi Bongopeople,

Can anyone confirm that, if an auto 4 wheel drive Bongo is in neutral, with the hand-brake off, the wheels should move freely when jacked up?
We :x have long suspected, (because the discs get hot even when the brakes are not applied,) that some of our brakes are not coming off when the peddle is not pressed and when we finally got around to jacking it up yesterday, we couldnt even turn the worst offending wheel!
Any suggestions / comments most welcome as ever.

Regards,

the Ferrett's

it sounds like you have sticky calipers on your bongo

if you take it to kwik-fit they offer a free brake test and will tell you if anything wrong

Checked the inside edges of the discs aren't worn/undercut and the pads aren't binding on the edge. S.
Sometimes the insides wear more than the outside.

My offside brake was binding on holiday and I chamfered the pad inside edge to clear the undercut. need new discs for the MOT :?

definitely sounds like you have binding brakes.
I wouldn't take it to Kwik Fit personally, they'll just tell you it all needs replacing & try & charge you a fortune for doing it, find somewhere that knows what they're talking about.
