South west is my favourite area for a relaxing holiday in Scotland

Climate is milder than anywhere else in Scotland, due to the Gulf stream. The village is quaint and tiny, but fairly close to kirkcudbright, which has a harbour, zoo and shopping. Close to the english border.I will definitely be there, dates permitting.

Magic area with views from the campsite across the Solway to the Lake District.
Reminds me of Gibraltar Farm.
I might well be tempted to drag the hutch up there.

Funny you should say that Harry. If you bring up Multimap to have a look at where the campsite is the map say that the nearest railway staition is at Workington. How are we supposed to get there, swim across the Solway.

Brighouse Bay is a site we go to often - a bit different from the type of site I normally go for (having a dislike for sites with bar/swimming pools etc) but this site is different in that it is not "holiday parky" and is very well kept with some nice coastal walks etc nearby. Open all year it is also an option for a winter break - we spent the 3 days between Christmas and New Year there last year. Count me in (as long as the dates permit)!

I'm thinking of organising a day out on the Saturday at this event. Who would be interested in a coach trip that takes in Bladnoch distillery, then a visit to Wigtown, book capital of Scotland?
