Rattly advice please

Hi,

Concerned about a rattle, i took the Bongo to a garage who diagnosed a broken roll bar linkage. Fine.....

.....but they also had him up on the ramp listening to 'other rattles' via a stethoscope.

Now they invited me to have a listen, and with the 'scope attached to the sump (near the drain plug)there was a pronounced rattling. This became less pronounced further towards the front of the sump, and again less pronounced towards the fly-wheel. The oil level was A-ok. From the 'outside it just sounds like a big diesel starting from cold.

They 'suggested' that this may be nothing...or a small-end problem..or something as yet undefined.

Since he is running pretty well, I am tempted to do ...er...nothing. Should I be worried?

Thanks

H-B

I wouldn't worry too much. A diesel engine is rattly anyway, and using a stethoscope will pick up all sorts of sounds.

Agree with John, if it's not evident while you're driving, wouldn't worry too much.
