Bongo Fury

About to change transmission oil, have read 2.5 diesel fact sheet and viewed lushproduct drawings, but is this a drain plug ?
Looks like it, has a (copper ?) washer just like engine oil drain plug - BUT - the bottom of the pan slopes and the 'drain plug' is at the top of the slope not the bottom as you would expect !
Before I have a go to undo this does anyone else have an idea as to what it could be for ? (useful answers only - unless funny and original).

I would suspect it's a drain plug, looks like it'll drain most of the fluid out, you'll just have a bit left in the bottom of the pan. A bigger photo would be a bit clearer though .

I have checked through lush again but non of the models/drawings show this 'drain' !
If it is a drain plug why does it leave some fluid at the bottom of the pan slope ?? Will the pan still have to be removed to clean out all the old fluid/oil left at the bottom slope of the pan or do I put the front of van up on jacks to let the whole pan drain out ??

Fully agree with what Wonkaboy said, it's not even a question, drop the pan & do it properly. The drain plug just means it drops most of the fluid so that when you drop the pan it doesn't go everywhere I guess, read through this one - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=30096

Bear in mind your filter will possibly be slightly different, take some piccies if you can .

when i did my oil change ,i dissconected the hoses at the front of the car (feed and return to the gearbox oil cooler) the return pipe went into a bucket and the and the feed pipe had a funnel fitted,i then ran the engine .Topping up the oil with the funnel ensured a oil supply whilst the waste oil was dumped in the bucket.When the oil comes out clean the flush is complete.I appreciate that a lot of you pump out the oil via the dipstick or remove the sump,however 30% of the oil is still in the torque converter and flushing it out is the only way to ensure clean oil .I then remove the sump and replace the filter(every 50k)THis way does use more atf oil but all the oil is replaced.
