Slow speed judder

When slowly reversing up a steep tarmac driveway the other day our Bongo juddered quite a bit enough to make me stop and try going a bit quicker but it still juddered, it also did it whilst going forwards up a steepish incline at a campsite too.
Apart from avoiding hills does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be and will it be ok to tow a box trailer.
Regards

Have you checked the level and condition of your gearbox fluid? Details in the ATF fact sheet in the member's area.

Checked it recently and looked ok, at the correct level and redish in colour.

2 or 4 wheel drive Neil? If 4WD it could be the start of driveline problems. also if 4WD, are your tyres all the same depth of tread?

Its 4WD and the front tyres are a little more worn than the rears but not by much, its only done about 80k warranted km too so sounds like a visit to a garage is in order then.

I've been up to ADS in Bristol this morning to investigate my juddering and after doing a few checks and carrying out a test drive up some steep hills I have been assured that it is do with how the LSD works and my driving style

and possibly the snow tyres that fitted to it

, they also checked my brakes and ABS sensors as the light has been flashing and everything ok there too, also to top it all they even gave me a replacement front lower bumper strut as mine has a sheered nut stuck in it, and all this for free.
So I can rest easy now knowing everything appears to be ok.
Really nice chaps who seem to know their Bongos, well recommended.

Nice one

, now take it easy with your driving style, I suppose the LSD would have an effect, your perception'd be right out of the window

, sorry couldn't resist

I knew someone would make a comment on my use of LSD.
Cheers Kirsty.
