Key inignition beep just started - nothing changed?!

I'm hoping someone's going to say I've forgotten to do something but here's what's started happening the last couple of days, most of the time :
I get beeping when key is in the ignition (and lights off, doors closed, handbrake one, gear in Park, van switched off, roof not been moved) - from some posts it suggests this is standard behaviour? I haven't had this since picking up the bongo 6 weeks ago, BUT the other morning I noticed the wing mirror had been pushed forward by someone when parked the other morning so I think it's started since then.
If I leave it beeping, it can stop on it's own after a minute or so (not timed it so maybe it's the same length and it's normal).
If I fiddle to find what it could be it 'appears' that switching the stereo off may have stopped it, pressing the gear change button may have stopped it, and pressing the wing mirror retract button may have stopped it (3 different times when I was wondering what I had left on!).
My issue is - this never used to happen.
When it stops beeping it sounded like an indicator has stopped - just a minor clicking noise, and I'm convinced I heard the beep the alarm makes when disabling (I had an alarm professionally fitted a week ago but haven't had issues until after I noticed the mirror).
Any ideas? Any fuses to check? Any special bongo dances I need to do to fix it?
any thoughts much appreciated.
