hi all

just wanting to know if any 1 has had any similiar happennings

since owning the bongo ive always ran the bongo from well over empty to the just over half way ( diesel and feul gauge )

as planning a decent trip ahead i thought i would put and extra tenner a week in and build the tank up......

well after a good few weeks, i put 20 pounds in from a half full tank, thinking this would take me to 3/4 full

well it shot straight to full,,, very strange i thought, and after 2 miles down the road it started to drop...and stopped at just over half way....shrugged my shoulders and thought ,, well i know how much ive put in from money - pump wise....

following week,,, done prob 70 miles, filled up and only managed to get 15 pounds in....FULL

but gauge only read just over the half way again.....did another 60-70 miles and again only took 11 pounds FULL and i could see the diesel at the top of the intake - tank....

still only registers just over half

strange thing is,,,,i do about 20-30 miles and the gauge starts to drop

HAS SOME ONE PUT BRICKS IN THE TOP HALF OF MY TANK TO MAKE IT LOOK FULL BUT ONLY HAVE JUST OVER HALF ????????????????????????

any 1 have any ideas, i really need to go on a long run and find out how much ive put in to miles and see what it calculates once ive re filled

surely i cant have a huge air lock only in the top half of the tank, and i can see the diesel at the top of the spout............................

i know some cars have a small tapered tank and the top half only takes small amount of fuel..

but surley not after 30 miles it starts to drop

any way let me know

Nah sounds like the good old knackered earth on the sender unit, loads on here on it and it is easy to do, must be cause I did it,lol. Quick instructions, slide rear seats back, middle forward, climb in between grab carpet nearest offside rear window, pull like hell, it will come up, there is a metal panel, under there the sender unit and wires, clean all contacts, make a second earth, (I did) if wanted as back up and away you go. There are some bril photos on one of the threads below this one, have a look, you cannot go wrong with the photos, good luck and let us know when it works, lol.
The photos are actually in the other thread named fuel gauge further down the page.
