Can anybody tell me if this roof action is normal?

Went up to Loch rannoch last weekend...had a 3hr drive to get there, over fairly high / elevated roads. It was late when we arrived at the camp site...and dark...and very midgy...and raining.so I was not able or willing to have a good look around outside to check the roof.

As I was elevating the roof the fan cut in, to cool the engine, and the roof stopped elevating and went into 'multiple beep mode', when the fan stopped the roof continued to elevate OK, locked out OK and came down OK the next day. The same thing happened a couple of days later, again when the van had had a long run, over fairly mountainous roads.

Is this normal? All other roof and van function is as it should be.

p.s. I checked all the things like handbreak on, gear selection in P etc.

Not noticed that on mine, may be a function of the 2litre the rest don't have? so as not to overload the elecktrickery maybe, as both the fans & roof draw quite a lump of current.

That would be my guess. Sounds like a low voltage protector on the starter battery at work. Us old '95 owners don't have such gizmos

Were you going this with the engine off, as its advisable to have engine running when raising the roof due to current drain on battery. Not so important lowering it, where gravity is assisting things.

I always run the engine to put the roof up and down, as well as when I put the blinds up and down. I try not to fanny about with things too much when on a quiet camp site so as not to disturb the neighbours

Will have a bit of a tinker at home this evening and see if the 'beeb.beeb.beeb.' happens again in controlled conditions. Will wait till late on so as to disturb the neighbours.

Fine. Had to ask, in case. On my noisy old diesel it is hard to hear the fans coming on with engine running, which is what prompted me to ask. But the 2l is much quieter I would guess
