Air con type question, but not just air con!

I'm curious as to why I can't get any cool air out of my "heater" at all. The air con most definitely doesn't work, I am going to ask the previous owner when they last used it but I think I will at the very least have to get it re-gassed or whatever. But even without the air con on, I can't get any cool air at all. It is warm. Not just air temp, but actually warm. Why would this be? If I turn the heat up it is really hot, so no worries for the winter! but not much use right now. What can I do?

Is the fan working ok on all speeds? Does the mode selector work to change the position of the airflow? Have you got the digital climate control, or the a/c with manual controls?

Sorry, I've got manual controls, I have a button that turns the a/c on and off and then all the usual slidey things. The mode selector does seem to work, I'll double check tomorrow. And the fan does work on all speeds.

I take it you've turned the temperature control right down? I'm wondering if the temp control has become detatched?
Cable 61C25 check it's connected at either end? -

Yep, it is turned right down, if I turn it up it gets hotter, so it works to degree, just the wrong degree! I haven't got a clue how to check the cable , so that will have to wait until my dad is around or maybe someone at a meet could help me. I will plow through your other link tomorrow too, and see if there is anything that I can do on my own.

Might be worth making sure the recirc flap is open? Wonder if something is stopping the controller/mechanism turning all the way down?

It may be something quite simple, but I'm sure the guys at the meet'll be able to have a look if you haven't got it sorted by then

Thanks for the offer, I shall bear that in mind! I might well take you up on it one day soon.
Kirsty, I thought you had worked your magic again when I turned it on this morning to check everything you asked for, and the air came out cool and stayed cool! Didn't make any difference that I could feel whether the air con was on or not, but the air was definitely verging on cold as opposed to definitely warm. All of the dials and slides do what they should do.
BUT then I tried it again this afternoon after work (about 1pm) after it had been sitting in th car park and the air was almost warm again! It didn't cool down in the 10mins I left it on, although it didn't seem to get warm again either. So I am baffled!

Possibly cos it was colder outside this morning & the engine matrix etc were cold & this afternoon the weather & everything else was warmer having been used?

Or it could just be my voodoo's getting a bit sketchy
Sounds like it may be worth a recharge, was it Kwik Fit that were offering no charge if they couldn't improve your aircon? worth a try as a first stop, unless there's any recommendations for a decent a/c engineer up your way?
If I haven't got my a/c on it doesn't exactly come through cold I must admit.

I can't provide a logical explanation as to why this happens, but my aircon works better when the rear controls are switched on and set on cold also.
Maybe you could give that a try if you haven't already

Rear controls were disconnected when it was converted. No idea where our nearest kwik fit is, probably Carlisle, I'll have a nosy and see what they say. Cheers guys. (Oh, I had thought about the colder air, but it wasn't that cold this morning, and the air was definitely coming through noticeably colder than outside. I'll see what it does tomorrow!)
Kirsty, I think you need a refresher voodoo course
