Damn spare battery got tipped over in the boot area and it looks like it has leaked all over the carpet in the rear and some under the back seats, I am gonna plaster it with cat litter and hope it soaks up, has anyone else done this and if so what did u do,lol.

You need to neutralise it, use lots of bi-carb in water and flood it, don't do it in the garage but out in the open (possible gas from the reaction)

And you need to do it as RAPIDLY as possible ....
Otherwise in a day or so you will have a nice off white dust blowing about the van and holes in all the material

Well folks carpet is well and truly beefy burgered, lol, looks like it has being shaved by a mad barber, took the bongo to tesco this morning and used the power washer inside to scour the carpets front to back, should have seen the looks I was getting from people, it sort of took all the stuff out as well as half a ton of hidden muck, lol but it has left a huge bare patch right from the rear thru to the engine covering, got it covered in newspaper at the mo to soak up excess soap and water etc. Just wondering how in the heck do you change the carpet, do both rows of seats have to come out or can you just pull the thing up. Got to be done I suppose and these things do happen.

2 sliding seats and they both need to come out
the lift up rear ones just lift out of the way but may be easier to remove them too

just 4 bolts on each, one on each corner once you take the front & rear plastic covers off the leg bits, it's easy to see which you need to undo, bloody heavy though

Did it once and NEVER got rid of it however much I flushed it with BiCarb mix.
You need to get everything out and wash a mild alkali everywhere.
You now know why an unrestrained battery should never be carried in a vehicle - or indeed anywhere. I will no longer carry a battery in a car if I can at all help it.
