I just found a leak at the back of my water pump it leaks when the engine has cooled down and is visible from the near side dripping down onto the cam pulley, Ive ordered a new one from E-Bay with a gasket set, at £40-00 the one from the Bongo shop is double the price have I bought a dud? anyone been here before? since I replaced my rad pipes with sillicone I seem to be forcing a fault round the cooling system, it'll be the stat next

May as well do the stat while you're at it, not expensive or difficult to do

Good point and it too is in the post, looks like Saturday with my head up the engine bay for me, I've been tracking a leak on this Bongo since early ownership hence the pipe change I bet it was the pump all the time, the drips dry as they contact the cam pulley housing making detection a tad difficult, hoping this is the end of my leaking saga, well for a while at least

Fingers crossed

that's usually the case with the water pump, always a bu66er to see the leak, that's where Haydn's UV dye comes in, mix it in the coolant & with a UV light you can see the stains it's made even if it's dried.

Well after a couple of hours with my head up the engine bay the new pump and stat' are in and after a bleed and run up to temp no sign of a leak as yet, I followed the faq sheet in members area and it's faultless, so here's hoping that is my leaking saga over with

Hi Kirsty No the pump looks fine but it looks like it has been weeping out of the hole that faces down (there are two one faces out on the near side) there is a lot of crusty coolant around that area, the gasket is fine but I fitted the new one anyway, also it's worth checking rad pipes after having them changed mine leaked a bit after a while so gave the clips a few turns and it seemed like they needed it.
I'm gonna take the pump to work and get it on the bearing press and dismantle it see what gives
