Bike Rack does it have to be special

Hi
I have a bog standard bike rack for my vauxhaul from Halfords that relies on two plastic wheels situated in the boot which are attached to black straps that feed over the boot outside the car that attach the rack to the car. There are other straps and clips that attach to the side of the boot and under the car.
I think I can feed the straps between the spoiler and the boot door and leave the wheels inside the bongo and attach the straps to the rack as well as do all the other attachments...
Does this make sense?
Is it a good idea?
