No fuel to the fuel filter?

Hi Guys/Girls of the forum this is my first post so hi to you all. I have just spent my only day off (Sunday) laying under stretched over my newly aquired Bongo (2.5 DT) All was fine before I touched it, well except the leak from the fuel pump at the bottom plunger housing (common problem I see) well I decided to tackle the leak and followed the walkthrough on Bongo fury and what fun!

I eventually replaced the two O'rings re-fitted the springs shims backing plate etc all looked fine, I also had purchased a new fuel filter so I struggled getting that off but eventually it gave in and I won! new one fitted. Now the problem it wont start! There is no fuel in the filter dry as a bone I understand that the pump should self bleed foot to the floor and turn her over, but not a drop to the pump or even the filter. am I missing something? Is there some kind of unique procedure a switch, cut off perhaps? Any suggestions greatly received.
Desperate Dave

also ive seen advise to loosen the 10 mm main feed...i assume whilst cranking over to bleed air from fuel line
but ive never needed to do it myself
its allways self bleed eventually

Buy a can of diesel injector cleaner, remove the filter (should be easier this time

) and tip the contents into the filter housing. bung the rest of the contents into the fuel tank. As you said, foot to the floor and crank the engine - should start immediately - with a cloud of smeek!
Banjo filter cleaning a good thing too - but if it was fine before then it's probabl clean...........

Many thanks for replying, just finished work so if I get time I will get amongst it and get grubby, I have not checked the banjo yet but I will check it. anyone any idea if I could have done something wrong when replacing the springs on the plunger it all seemed to back on OK.
Cheers all
