oil around rocker cover gasket

Stupid question... is it normal to see small amount of oil around the seal where the cylinder head joins the block, on my newly acquired 2.5 diesel it appears there is a bit, its not using water or oil as far as I can tell nor is there any non normal smoke from the exhaust.

is it a big job to replace the gasket? is it a diy friendly job as I assume you wouldnt need to have the head re-skimmed etc.

thanks

Tom

welcome to the forum and to ownership - if you put your location in user control panel top right - local people to you might be able to help - also go to xome meets to look at others conversions - give youloads of ideas for what you do or do not want when you get yours converted!!!

good hunting don't rush into anything or you might end up with something you don't want.
